"Chains" is a song composed by the Brill Building husband-and-wife songwriting team Gerry Goffin and Carole King and was a minor hit for Little Eva’s backing singers, The Cookies (#17 U.S.), and later covered by The Beatles.

The single by The Beatles was a popular cover song for Liverpool bands after its release in November 1962 and was included briefly in the Beatles' live sets. They recorded it on 11 February 1963 and it appeared on their first album in the UK, Please Please Me. It was the first of two songs on the album with lead vocals by George Harrison, and it features the early Beatles trademark harmonica introduction with backing vocal harmonies provided by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

The Beatles played the song live on BBC radio shows including Side by Side, Here We Go and Pop Go The Beatles. Music critic Ian MacDonald criticised The Beatles performance, writing that it was slightly out-of-tune and lacked spontaneity.

"Anna (Go to Him)" is a song written and originally performed by Arthur Alexander. His version was released as a single by Dot Records on September 17, 1962. A cover version was performed by The Beatles and included on their 1963 debut "Please-Please Me".

A personal favourite of John Lennon, it became part of the The Beatles' early repertoire and was consequently recorded by them for their 1963 debut album, Please Please Me. In the U.S., Vee Jay Records released it on Introducing... The Beatles (January 10, 1964) and Capitol Records re-released it on The Early Beatles (March 22, 1965). This is third song from Please-Please Me Album.

The Beatles recorded the song on 11 February 1963 in three takes; the master take was number 3. It was remixed on 25 February. George Harrison played the distinctive phrase on guitar; Floyd Cramer played it on piano for the original.

Please Please Me is the first album released by The Beatles in 1963, by Parlophone Records, following the success of singles 'Love Me Do' (rank 17) and 'Please Please Me' (rank 1) in the UK charts. John Winston Lennon was born in Liverpool, England, October 9, 1940. Died in New York City, United States, December 8, 1980 at the age of 40 years.

George Harrison was born in Wavertree, Liverpool, England, February 25, 1943. Died in Los Angeles, California, United States, November 29, 2001 at the age of 58 years.

Richard Starkey, better known by the name of Ringo Starr, born in Liverpool, England, July 7, 1940, he was still alive until now.

Sir Paul McCartney, was born in Liverpool, England, June 18, 1942. He was still alive until now.
